Educational objectives

The College of Engineering aims to cultivate proficient technical personnel with a sense of responsibility to research new technologies, deepen the acquisition of fundamental theories in engineering, and enhance information education in preparation for the era of advanced science and technology and the information age of the 21st century. The goal is to contribute to the improvement of productivity in industrial fields and the development of future technologies.

Overview

Department of English Language and Literature

The Department of English Language and Literature aims to cultivate students' ability to understand the English language as well as British and American literature and cultures through courses in British and American poetry, British and American novels, British and American theater, critical theory, English grammar, English composition, English conversation, and English pedagogy. After graduation, students go on to work in English-related professions, and some pursue further studies in graduate school to deepen their knowledge in their major. An increasing number of graduates go on to pass national exams and enter various fields such as general enterprises, broadcasting stations, and banks.

Department of Korean Language and Literature

The Department of Korean Language and Literature aims to help students acquire in-depth knowledge of the Korean language, which serves as the foundation for the intellectual thinking of Koreans, and to cultivate their ability to analyze and appreciate works by learning the theories and practices encompassing Korean literature as a whole.
Many graduates have debuted in the literary field and are actively engaged in creating works, while others enter various fields such as publishing, journalism, advertising, public relations in general companies, public service, and education.

Department of Korean History

The Department of Korean History aims to cultivate competent individuals with historical thinking skills and a creative historical consciousness through systematic research and education on Korean history.
The department conducts regular historical site excursions each semester and hosts events such as the Korea–Japan History Textbook Symposium and the Seoul Local History Academic Conference, thereby promoting the development of joint historical textbooks between Korea and Japan, and conducting research on the history of Seoul.
After graduation, students have various career options including historical research institutes, museums, cultural heritage agencies, Korean studies academies, as well as history-related publishing companies and graduate schools.

Department of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy was established in 1994 to systematically impart specialized knowledge in various fields of philosophy while also offering liberal arts courses aimed at equipping students from other majors with analytical and critical thinking skills.
The department publishes the departmental journal “Jeonnong Philosophy” and holds tri-annual seminars for all students as well as “Philosophy Colloquium” and “Philosopher's Night.”
After graduation, students enter various fields such as academia, the media, writing, and civic organizations.

Department of Chinese Language and Culture

The Department of Chinese Language and Culture understands that it is essential for students to have fundamental knowledge of the Chinese language and a general awareness of Chinese culture to understand China and predict its future.
New-era China specialists require not only proficiency in the Chinese language, but also a comprehensive understanding of Chinese culture as essential qualifications.
The department was established to respond to these new demands of the era and to cultivate the new generation of China specialists expected in the future.
